Lion Country Safari

The Lion Country Safari is located in Palm Beach.  It was the first drive-through safari park in the country.  It is known as "The Cageless Zoo," and is a successful animal attraction.  The Lion Country Safari is home to over 900 animals in the drive-through preserve.  Some of the animals consist of lions, rhinos, chimpanzees, zebras, and giraffes.

There is a CD that you listen to as you drive through the preserve.  It explains about the animals and the rules while driving through.  Some of the rules are: keep driving, don't roll down your window, and keep inside your vehicle at all times.  There are zebra looking trucks that police the area to make sure patrons are obeying the rules.  We may have been chastised over the loud speaker of the "zebra truck", when our window accidentally rolled down by the lion and tiger exhibit where we were able to get a quick picture.

We never felt unsafe or anxious during our drive through, except when we were admiring the ostriches.  A large ostrich attacked the driver side of our car.  The driver may have screamed a lot and caused quite a scene in the car.  Out of all the animals, who would have thought that it would have been an ostrich that would attack us?  Needless to say, ostriches are not my favorite animal.

We loved watching all of the animals in their natural habitats (well as natural as a drive through zoo gets). They were beautiful!
